10. Fill in the blanks (Infinitive, Gerund, Participle)


Gerund- A noun formed from verb by adding ‘ing’
              Eg: Swimming is good for health
Here, the term swimming framed as noun by add ‘ing’ to the verb swim

Participle- It is partly a verb and partly an adjective. It is a verbal adjective.
The participleare formed by adding ‘ing’, ‘ed’, ‘en’ to verbs.
              Eg: The wounded soldiers were taken home.

Infinitive-  It is used as noun to function as a subject or object in sentences. It formed when ‘to’ comes before a verb. 
It is formed by adding ‘to + verb’ for.
              Eg: He wanted to buy a car.

Note: After model auxiliaries like, shall, will, should, would, may, might, must , can, could, We can use infinitive without ‘to’.
Eg: With ‘to’ : He knows how to sing.
   Without ‘to’ : He can sing.
